Politique de confidentialité : Geoloc Smart Step

GeolocSmartStep is an Android application developed by the GEOLOC laboratory of the Gustave Eiffel University(Univ. Eiffel).

This Privacy Policy explains what data we collect from the Application and why we collect it, how we use/process that information and to whom we may disclose it.

1 - Personal data

From our Application, we do not collect any personal data (for example, names, addresses, phone numbers, e-mail addresses or complete IP addresses). You are allowed , by a button, to share your inertial datas anonymously for research purposes.

2 - Permissions Required by the Application

Position

In order to compute your position, the Application needs access to the phone's sensor data. Your approximate (network) or precise (GPS and network) position can be used at the beginning of the positioning algorithm to speed up the loading of the map at the starting point. This position is not retained or shared with third parties.

Data storage

The Application may store information locally on your mobile device, in the Application's data cache or if you use the Application's logger function to retrieve data from your phone to calculate location. This data is local and is not shared or transferred elsewhere in any way, unless you deliberately choose to do so by sharing your files via another Application for example.

Inertial datas

The Application collects accelerometer and gyroscope value to compute steps.

3 - Sharing personal data

Information you share

The Application does not allow you to share information with others directly, but the data recorded using the "logger" function allows you to create exportable files. The responsibility for sharing these files is entirely yours.

Information we don't share

As mentioned before, we do not collect any data. Nothing is transmitted except if you choose to share your anonymous inertial datas (accelerometer, gyroscope) to our server as we can publish it to help research.

4 - Changes

This Privacy Policy may be updated from time to time for any reason. We will notify you of any changes to our Privacy Policy by posting the new Privacy Policy here. You are advised to check this Privacy Policy regularly for any changes, as your continued use of the Application is considered approval of any changes.
